Alfred Lengnick returned home from the war in 1945 and went to
work for Peoples Bank, then "the bank" of small-town
Beaufort. In 1946 he established the Peoples Insurance Agency
from his desk drawer at the bank. Initial stockholders of the
insurance agency included other prominent Beaufort natives.

a century later the agency still proudly carries the name of
the trusted bank. The agency has grown over the years but
maintains the service to our clients that made the Peoples
Bank a landmark of the community. Our services have expanded
to protect your business, home, vehicles, boats, life and
health. |

we serve the insurance needs of over 1,000 individuals and
families and over 500 commercial clients in Beaufort, Colleton,
Hampton and Jasper counties. |
